The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has notified various changes in the scheme of education and training for the Chartered Accountancy Course with a view to aligning it with International Standards. The announcement was made on 25th July, 2018 by ICAI President, CMA Dinesh Kanabar.

The highlights of the changes introduced in the CA course are as follows:
– There will be four modules instead of eight in the new course structure
– A total of 24 papers will now be divided into two levels – Intermediate (IPC) and Final
– Each level will have two groups comprising four subjects each
– Both theoretical and practical training will be imparted under the new scheme
– The proposed duration of the course is 3 years including articleship
– The new course will come into effect from 1st May, 2019
– Students who have registered themselves under old regulations can complete their studies as per old regulations or they may opt for migration to new regulations by clearing all remaining papers under both old and new regulations.
